City College Birmingham, Fordrough Campus

Mar City have recently completed the construction on the Design and Build of a new £21 million Fordrough Campus for City College Birmingham in what is the final phase of Fordrough Park.

David Cragg MBE - Regional Director West Midlands Learning and Skills Council opened the 'topping out' ceremony on Tuesday 10th March 2009, marking the completion of the external structure of the main building.

The 61 week build recieves its first 14 to 19 year old students in September 2009, studying a variety of vocational courses. The new Campus incorporates many ecological design features including solar hot water heating, Photovoltaic (PV) panels providing electricity generation and a rainwater harvesting system.

The 90,000 sq ft scheme is designed to meet a BREEAM "Very Good" rating, representing best practice for energy use and sustainability for commercial development.

Fordrough Park is already home to the £20 million South Birmingham Centre of Construction Excellence, which was completed in 2006, and a 16,000 sq ft Lidl supermarket.
