Former Use:

Historically, the 14 acre site, operated as a general Post Office store, with associated warehouses and office blocks. Forming part of  East Birmingham's Regeneration Scheme, the Brownfield site is underging substantial re-development.

Site Constraints:

Planning Permission was sought and obtained by Mar City Developments Ltd, subject to the provision of a traffic light junction, which is now operational. Soil tests highlighted areas of contamination, which has been remediated in full compliance with B.C.C Environmental Health Department.

Development Proposals:

Successfully completed, phase I offers a state-of-the-art Construction Centre of Excellence for South Birmingham College. The facility will enable South Birmingham College to provide over 3000 learning opportunites annually for the construction industry, and is Europe's largest Further Education development.

In addition to the Construction College, part of the 14 acre site includes a new purpose built supermarket by a national retailer.

Phase II proposals include a Sixth Form College and a vocational facility for 14 to 19 year olds. The entire campus is to provide over 30,000 sq m of educational facilities.
