Site History:
The site formerly housed the G.E.C, the General Electric Corporation.
Site Constraints:
Remaining dilapidated and redundant for many years the building was in dire state of repair. A full structural survey concluded the entire structure needed to be underpinned and strengthened.
Restrictive site access and the preservation of the original clay tile floor added further complications to this difficult project. To strengthen the original framework, only 3 metre individual lengths of steel could be threaded through the three storey building, at any one time and then bolted in place, as structural access was limited to a small opening in the building.
Development proposals:
Successfully completed the restoration of the Grade 2 listed facade and various internal features currently accomodates offices.
