Former Use:

Since the 1800's, the 3 acre site housed various units manufacturing gunpowder.

Site Constraints:

Located next to the River Medway accessed via a narrow bridge, the site presented numerous problems; high levels of hydro-carbons were found which had to be removed and site access was hindered by a weak, narrow bridge. As a consequence prior to the commencement of a comprehensive programme of earth removal, our sister company, Marland Reclamation Ltd, re-enforced the bridge rendering it suitable for site access and plant machinery to be safely transported.

Approximately 10,000 cubic feet of contaminated soil was removed. Careful excavation was essential to ensure no pollutants fell into the river causing harm to the surrounding river bank and pond life.

Development Proposals:

Marland Reclamation successfully overcame all the challenges this Brownfield site produced by providing a total solution in land reclamation using highly skilled personnel and leading-edge technology. The land was de-contaminated and re-generated enabling one of the top three national housing developers to build luxury homes.
