Size: 1.42 Acres
Use: Retail
Status: Sold
Former Use:
Historically, the site was a general Post Office store, with associated warehouses and office blocks. Forming part of East Birmingham's Regeneration Scheme the Brownfield site is undergoing substantial re-development.
Site Constraints:
Planning permission was successfully sought and obtained by Mar City Developments Limited subject to the provision of a traffic light junction, which is now operational. Soil tests highlighted areas of contamination which has been remediated in full compliance with B.C.C. Environmental Health Department requirements.
Development Proposals:
Phase I of the 14 acre site has been completed, comprising of a 7.72 acre state of the art Construction Centre of Excellence for South Birmingham College and a new purpose built 1.4 acre supermarket by a well known national retailer.
Phase II proposals include a 16,000 sq m facility for City College Birmingham/ South Birmingham College. This will include a sixth form college and a vocational facility for 14 - 19 year olds. The entire campus is to provide over 30,000 sq m of educational facilities.
