The Fordrough, Retail, Bordesley Green, Birmingham
Size: 1.42 Acres
Use: Retail
Status: Completed

Former use:

The site was historically a general Post Office store, with associated warehouses and office blocks. Forming part of East Birmingham's Regeneration Scheme, the Brownfield site is undergoing substantial re-development.

Site constraints:

Planning permission was sought and obtained by Mar City Developments Ltd,  subject to the provision of a traffic light junction, which is now operational. Soil tests highlighted areas of contamination, which has been remediated in full compliance with B.C.C. Environmental Health Department requirements.

Development proposals:

Phase 1 of the 14 acre site has been successfully completed comprising of a state of the art construction centre of excellence for South Birmingham College and a new purpose built supermarket by a well known national retailer.

The final phase of Fordrough Park has recently been completed on time and on budget. The topping out ceremony was opened on Tuesday 10th March 2009 by David Cragg MBE - Regional Director West Midlands Learning Skills Council. The new "green"  Campus for City College Birmingham receives its first 14 to 19 year old students September 2009 studying a variety of vocational courses.

The entire campus is to provide over 30,000 sq.m of educational facilities.
